The usually tranquil grounds of Jeph International University came alive on June 8th, 2025, with splashes in the pool, cheers from the stands, and the vibrant energy of over 40 corporate teams gathered for the Corporate Games Uganda. Among them, one team stood out, not just for skill, but for purpose.
Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, Uganda’s leading mental health institution, delivered a dominant performance in swimming, clinching top honors and sending a powerful message; “mental health and physical health go hand-in-hand”. Through their participation, they demonstrated that institutions can lead by example in promoting both wellness and unity.
Monthly Games, Lasting Impact
The 2025 Corporate Games Uganda season kicked off in March and will continue every second Sunday of the month until November. Each event brings together teams from diverse sectors—telecommunications, government agencies, banking, tourism, education, and more, to compete, collaborate, and connect.
Butabika Hospital has pledged to participate in every edition, fully embracing this year’s theme of corporate wellness and engagement. Their mission is clear; to foster a healthier, more united workforce, physically and mentally.
July 13th – Another Win for Butabika
The momentum continued in July as Butabika’s football team took to the pitch in a thrilling encounter against the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). In a high-energy match, Butabika secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory, showcasing not only athletic ability but also strategy, discipline, and teamwork.
On the same day, the hospital also made its mark in the netball competition, taking on formidable teams such as Darling Uganda, further underlining their commitment to inclusive participation across multiple disciplines.

Wellness in Action
Participation in the Corporate Games is just one facet of Butabika Hospital’s broader commitment to staff well-being. By engaging in regular sports activities, the hospital aims to:
- Promote both physical fitness and mental health
- Foster teamwork, morale, and a sense of belonging among staff
- Provide platforms for engagement beyond the workplace.
