The department ensures that psychiatric patients receive comprehensive care beyond medical treatment, addressing social, emotional and economic challenges that impact their recovery and quality of life
This department is made up of a vibrant team of medical social workers. We provide holistic psycho-social therapy to patients with mental illness, ensuring their wellbeing, rehabilitation and re-integration into society.
This involves;
- Patient re-integration & Advocacy. We carry out family tracing, facilitating community re-integration, repatriating international patients and advocate for patient rights.
- Psycho-social support: We offer counseling, psycho-social education and family therapy to patients and their relatives.
- Collaboration and community sensitization: We work with families, institutions and communities to reduce the stigma and enhance support for mental health recovery.
- Student training and Research: We mentor students, conduct operational research and contribute to improved mental health policies and practices
